THEORYCITY is the course blog for Woodbury University’s spring 2011 Urban Theory class.

The course discusses seminal topics that have shaped urban theory over the last century. The focus is transdisciplinary: we consider various resources from the fields of urban planning, geography, political science, philosophy, and sociology. We use a close analytical reading of these texts, which serves as the basis for a critical inquiry into a range of intellectual platforms that shape the way we conceptualize urbanization and sociospatial development, both real and imagined.

This blog incorporates both research that spans the twentieth century, and also includes connections that are made to contemporary circumstance.
